The International Space Station (ISS) is at it again. They have set up a High Definition Earth Viewing (HDEV) experiment with four cameras pointed down towards the earth with live streaming available online.

The cameras are located on the outside of the station in a temperature controlled housing and are exposed to the radiation of space.

They hope to assess the quality of the video overtime to learn what types of cameras are best suited for missions in space. The program is joint effort between NASA and a program called High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH). Student teams helped design the camera and it’s components, and they operate the equipment while in orbit.
