Biological Description

Alternative Names Picropodophyllin, NSC 36407, PPP, (5R,5aS,8aR,9R)-5,8,8a,9-Tetrahydro-9-hydroxy-5-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)-furo[3',4':6,7]naphtho[2,3-d]-1,3-dioxol-6(5aH)-one
Research Areas Cell Signaling
PubChem ID 72435
Scientific Background Picropodophyllotoxin is an inhibitor of insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF1R). Specifically, it inhibits IGF1R autophosphorylation. It has also been seen to increases the fraction of cells in the G2/M phase, reduce pAKT and pERK1/2, and upregulates apoptosis. Picropodophyllotoxin exhibits antiproliferative effects in multiple cancer cell lines.
