Potassium Channels

Potassium channels are transmembrane ion channels that selectively allow the flow of potassium ions down their electrochemical gradient. They primarily function to restore the resting membrane potential in neurons after an action potential.

There are four classes:

  • Calcium-Activated Potassium Channels
  • Inward-Rectifying Potassium Channels
  • Tandem Pore Domain Potassium Channels
  • Voltage-Gated Potassium Channels

Potassium channels are composed of four subunits arranged to form a highly selective central pore. Potassium channel blockers prevent potassium ions from flowing through the pore of the channel.

Ion channel research requires a great diversity of life science products. We are dedicated to developing cutting edge research products to aid in the study potassium channels, including monoclonal antibodies, polyclonal antibodies, antibody conjugates, and small molecule potassium channel blockers.
