Lab Technician – Antibodies & Kits

StressMarq Biosciences is seeking a lab technician to join our growing company. This is a full-time annual contract position that can be extended if successful, reporting to a Lab Manager. The new technician will be trained on existing SOPs to support the Antibody & Kit department, with opportunities to participate in new product development.
The day-to-day work for this position includes preparing buffers, casting and running SDS-PAGE gels and/or transfers, planning and running western blots, target review, data visualization such as labelled gel images, line & bar graphs, etc., data entry into shared databases, drafting/revising SOPs, general lab & equipment maintenance activities such as reagent/consumable inventory, autoclaving materials & supplies, and clean-up.
On a weekly to biweekly basis, the technician will be assigned specific projects by a lab manager, which can include kit manufacturing, antibody purification and/or screening, and antibody conjugation followed by QC activities such as A260/280, SDS-PAGE, western blotting, sterility testing, ELISA, BCA, and fluorescence testing. All data & results associated with a project must be compiled into a project summary.
Additional Responsibilities:
Attendance in Lab Meetings, Full Staff Meetings, and weekly Work Order Meetings.
- Must review transcript if meeting missed or follow up with supervisor

Lab Safety
- Safe handling of chemicals and raw materials
- Safe handling and use of equipment
- Review SDS sheets when necessary
- Wear appropriate PPE and abide by safety protocols
- Label reagents/buffers appropriately (WHIMIS)
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology or another related field; or a Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years relevant experience in antibody and kit development
- Attention to detail, natural curiosity, and self-motivation
- Strong research skills (literature review, experimental design)
- Excellent recordkeeping and time management
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Analytical skills for complex tests and procedures
- Technical proficiency with lab equipment (pH meters, spectrophotometers, autoclaves, AKTAs, columns)
- Understanding of antibody theory, ELISA/assay, and conjugation techniques
- Experience with QC methods: SDS-PAGE, western blot, ELISA, immunoprecipitation
- Skilled in rodent dissection and tissue lysate prep
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Problem-solving for equipment issues and abnormal results
- Ability to review and summarize IHC/ICC results
- Collaborative and enjoys team-oriented environments

StressMarq Biosciences is seeking a lab technician to join our growing company. This is an entry-level full-time annual contract position that can be extended if successful, reporting to a Lab Manager. The new technician will be trained on existing SOPs to support the R&D department.
The day-to-day work for this position includes preparing buffers, casting and running SDS-PAGE gels and/or transfers, data visualization such as labelled gel images, line & bar graphs, etc., data entry into shared databases, drafting/ revising SOPs, general lab & equipment maintenance activities such as reagent/ consumable inventory, autoclaving materials & supplies, and clean-up.
On a weekly to biweekly basis, the technician will be assigned specific projects by a lab manager, which can include protein expression, purification and/or fibrillization or antibody purification and/or screening, followed by QC activities such as western blotting, sterility testing, assays (ThT, sedimentation, endotoxin detection, BCA, malachite green, etc) and atomic force microscopy. All data & results associated with a project must be compiled into a project summary.
