Scientific Background | AM 580 is a selective agonist of the retinoic acid receptor alpha (RARα), structurally related to retinoic acid. It modulates immune responses by promoting Th2 cytokine production and suppressing Th1 cytokines. In neurodegenerative disease research, AM 580 has been shown to inhibit microglial activation and reduce neuroinflammation, particularly in Alzheimer’s disease models. Its ability to influence retinoid signaling pathways and immune modulation makes it a promising candidate for therapeutic development in neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative conditions. |
