Scientific Background | Dasatinib is a dual Src and Abl kinase inhibitor with significantly greater potency against BCR-ABL than imatinib. In neuroscience, Src family kinases are involved in synaptic signaling, neuroinflammation, and blood-brain barrier integrity. Dasatinib is used to investigate the role of tyrosine kinase signaling in neurodegenerative diseases and has shown potential in modulating microglial activation and reducing neuroinflammatory responses. Its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and inhibit multiple kinases makes it a promising candidate for repurposing in neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory conditions. |
