Scientific Background | Sulindac sulfide is the active metabolite of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) sulindac. It exerts its effects by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis and inflammation. In neuroscience, sulindac sulfide has been investigated for its ability to induce apoptosis in abnormal cells and modulate neuroinflammatory pathways. Its potential to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation makes it a candidate for neuroprotective strategies in neurodegenerative diseases. |
