Scientific Background Zerumbone is a natural sesquiterpene ketone isolated from Zingiber species, known for its anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties. In neuroscience, zerumbone has been investigated for its ability to potentiate TRAIL-induced apoptosis via upregulation of death receptors DR4 and DR5. Its selective cytotoxicity toward abnormal cells and ability to modulate apoptotic pathways make it a compound of interest in neuro-oncology and neurodegenerative disease research.
