Scientific Background SC 79 is an activator of Akt (protein kinase B). Specifically, it has been shown to bind the plecktrin homology (PH) domain of Akt. This mimics the binding of Phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5)-trisphosphates, which induces a conformational change in Akt, that enhances phosphorylation and activation.
