Scientific Background |
Acrolein BSA Conjugate is a critical tool for detecting acrolein-modified proteins, which serve as biomarkers of oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation in the nervous system. Acrolein, a highly reactive α,β-unsaturated aldehyde, is generated during lipid degradation and inflammation, particularly under conditions of mitochondrial dysfunction and excitotoxicity. In neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and spinal cord injury, elevated acrolein levels correlate with neuronal damage, glial activation, and impaired synaptic function. Acrolein-modified proteins disrupt cytoskeletal integrity and promote neuroinflammation, contributing to progressive neurodegeneration. The BSA-conjugated form enables sensitive detection of acrolein adducts in immunoassays and tissue staining, supporting mechanistic studies and therapeutic screening in oxidative stress-related neuropathologies. |
