Biological Description

MKT-077 is an allosteric Hsp70 inhibitor. It binds within Hsp70’s nucleotide binding domain, adjacent to ATP/ADP binding pocket. MKT-077 inhibits J-stimulated ATP turnover rate, reduces pathogenic tau levels in HeLa and neuroblastoma cells and has anti-cancer activity, with EC50 values of 1 uM against MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells. MKT-077 binds to Hsc70 and mtHsp70 (mortalin or GRP75) in cells.
